Wisdom vs. Rules

"Practical wisdom is the combination of moral will and moral skill." - Aristotle

A wise person is made, not born.

You don't need to be brilliant to be wise. Without wisdom, brilliance isn't enough.

This TED video is quite long, because you can't rush an important message like this.  Standards, procedures, organizations do have a purpose in society, but they shouldn't take precedence over reason and common sense, especially in situations that call for creative thinking and empathy.  Don't let bureaucracy and laziness -- or even a low salary -- stop you from making wise decisions.
