Finally! Here's my long-overdue update (sorry! work got in the way :P) about our Noche Buena and Media Noche fundraiser for Paglipon last year. Once again, a MILLION THANKS to all of you who contributed so wholeheartedly and promptly to our call for help last Nov. 11, 2011. Just within a week, we had reached our goal of PHP50,000 -- a full month ahead of the deadline :-)
We originally intended for Paglipon to use our donations to prepare a total of 100 food baskets for Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. At the time, there were only 50 families to be considered. But even as our fundraiser went on, we knew that Paglipon's ministry continued to grow. Now, they are helping over 50 families in 4 or 5 different locations in Luzon. We let Paglipon decide how best to use the amount we had given them (which was actually over PHP51,000).
It is great to know that there were also other people who contributed to Paglipon's holiday celebrations apart from us :-)
Too bad I wasn't able to join Paglipon at their grocery shopping last Dec. 24 and 31, 2011. I got sick on Dec. 24 while I had to work (I'm not kidding) on the 31st. Ah well :-P Maybe I can join them this coming Holidays 2012. Hope to have your support then again ;-)
Here is the Jan. 3, 2012 update from Paglipon's founder, Nonie Roa, about how they maximized the donations they received:
I would like to inform you and all our donors that Paglipon gave out 65 bags last Dec 24. As for Taguig, even if we gave out only 18 bags each on 24th and 31st, food was [also] prepared in the Church of Pastor Art, a director of Paglipon, that fed more than 100 people and they were able to evangelize at the same time. also, P500 was sent thru LBC to 8 members for their noche buena and P3,000 total for Paglipon's ministry in Bataan that blessed more than 150 people for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Once again, we Praise and thank God for partnering with us and made our members happy and blessed. May God's Best be poured out to all of you, our wonderful partners.
