Backstage Pass to the Creator

This headline caught my eye in my Tweeps' feed today: "If God Exists, Then Why Does God Hide?" (Huffington Post blog).  I wanted to immediately hit "reply" and say "It's not God who hides, it's us who hide from Him."  But something stopped me and told me to read the article first.

The author's main objective for writing the article -- to say the least -- got me completely hooked.  Within the 4 reasons he presented as for why there's a notion that God is "elusive", he points out that it doesn't have anything to do with God, rather, it all has to do with our perspective.

Think about it: no matter how much we bicker and philosophize back and forth about it, God is still God.  He will not cease to exist just because some of us -- we, mere finite humans -- don't believe He exists.

This line in the article really spoke to me: "The experience of God requires deliberate and sustained effort..."  It's exactly the point that God keeps making over and over again throughout the Bible -- He wants to have a meaningful relationship with us.  He says again and again that if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.  If we cry out to Him, He will come.  If we call upon His name, He will answer.  Knock, and the door will be opened.  He is not elusive at all, never was and never will be.  He wants us to have a dialogue with Him about anything, any time, anywhere.

You could say, it's like an all-access backstage pass.  And it is.  So why keep speculating when we can actually know Him for real?  Why deny yourself the backstage pass?
